Yeh, best orchestral version I could find though.

Sorry about the Cultural Blog Award but you are still in time to get your entry in for next week's bloggoth Blog of the Year Award. Ah damn, the deadline just passed again!

Congratulations on the Cultural Blog Award! I was disappointed not to have awarded it to myself last week, or even to have thought of it in the first place.

Even so, giving Leonard Bernstein an orchestra and an Overture to Tannhauser to play with is a bit like putting a little old lady into a Formula 1 racing car and strapping on a JATO pack to help her off the grid. Better left as a pedestrian.

US debt $14,000,000,000,000
UK debt £4,000,000,000,000

Considering the size of the populations and a pound is more, bleedin' ell.

Would post links but this stupid commenty things won't let me. Who wrote this crap?

I assume you meant to put trillion and not billion Mr Sheep.

But what is a trillion? A US trillion or a UK trillion which is a million times bigger? Or are we using an international standard now?

Oh, also, our own National Debt will hit 14 billion dollars before the year is out, but I gotta say, 4 trillion pounds for the size of your population truly puts our debt in the shade. I don't know whether to congratulate you for winning, or offer condolences.

I suspect most of your problem with unfunded debt has the same cause as ours. You may know that our Social Security system is perennially running out of money and needing transfusions allocated by our Congress. Well, the reason it's short on funds is because for decades it's treasury was overflowing and our Congress, in it's great wisdom and unquenchable greed, kept "borrowing" the "excess funds". This in spite of the known fact that those funds were for the future when the people paying in then would be drawing it back out now.

Social Security is broken because our traitorous, greedy bastards that we elected broke it.

£3.8 trillion. I didn't know whether to weep or wet myself in terror.
