Not sure about EU referendum. I would like to vote for exit, but I learned from my p0ker** playing days that it’s dangerous to go all-in with a better player. In my 30s I used to play every Monday at my local, The Star in Standon. Ostensibly they were chess evenings, but after a couple of quick games of chess we would move on to p0ker.

Zen Buddhism isn't a religion. Buddhism is, yes, and there's probably as many forms of it as there are of Christianity, and they're all more or less bullshit. The purpose of Zen is come to direct experience of reality, which makes it the closest to the original teachings of Buddha. Reality is simply that everything is equal and the same as everything else, all things are one thing. Ego prevents us from seeing this, so the ego has to be dispelled at least for a moment, long enough to see the truth. Sociopaths are all about their selves, so Zen is the most difficult thing in the world for them. Truly humble people, those who are capable of love, who freely apologize when they commit a wrong, who practice generosity, can learn to see the oneness of things a lot more easily.
Back to god, for me there is a force in the Universe that is exactly what some enlightened soul described it as on some ancient slab of clay. God is universal love, omnipresent. It seems to me that the entire Universe functions on the principle of love. When left alone, everything works perfectly, even the apparent chaos is actually acts of creation. This force can be directly experienced, tapped into and enabled as the guiding force in our lives. I put this god to work in my life whenever I need it, it solves problems for me so I don't have to deal with them, in innovative ways I never imagined.
There's been a lot of people I've told about this and they all thought I was some sort of crank, but then there's been those few who knew exactly what I was saying. It's always nice to know you're not alone. :-)

I started seriously studying the words of Jesus when I was in my late 20's and a devoted atheist. I was also very much into Zen Buddhism at the time. Several of the things attributed to Jesus that are actually in the Christian Bible, and that Christians themselves deny were said and are horrified when I prove it, and you can actually see their minds close up tightly like frightened clams, are these two tidbits: I say unto you, all men, you are gods" and "The kingdom of heaven is within you". He also said, in reference to a question about public prayer and displays of righteousness, that if you want to pray, go into your room and lock the door behind you first. Christians never seem to have read that part, from all appearances.
Some of his parables are virtually plagiarized from Buddha's parables. Yes, he also commonly spoke in parables.
Jesus disappeared for a bunch of years and then came back sounding like a Buddhist, not unreasonable since travel to India was common back then and the man known as the Buddha had passed away 600 years previously. (synonyms for buddha are savior, christ, etc.) Plainly, the seeker had found what he was looking for.

Not done extensive research but checked out a major site that supposedly proves Christ's existence and it seems to confirm exactly what that book said. There was a list of references mentioning Christ's doings but all of them were a century or more after his supposed death.
That does not make sense. Significant figures may be mentioned at the time and then fade into obscurity, it does not normally work the other way round. Quite possible he was a real minor figure whose ideas later became popular but, if they were not recorded at the time, all the details about him would have to be fictional or at best based on hearsay. This is quite usual in religion, look at Hubbard, an incompetent Navy officer and 3rd rate Sci-Fi author who astounded people in the Far East with his wisdom.

Reading on your Kindle, first. I suspect that you may be the author of the referenced book, maybe? The problem with Jesus is that all the apocryphal crap that was made up about him puts his actual existence in doubt. I think he did exist because, if you filter out all the silly crap he supposedly said, what's left was spoken by someone who'd attained enlightenment and sounds like it could have been uttered by Buddha. Of course, most of that sort of speech attributed to him is found in the various "Apocrypha" that was rejected by the Council of Nicea in 325 AD, which was a bunch of bishops who wanted to consolidate Christian doctrine into a form they all agreed on and that augmented the power and authority of the Christian church.
My point here is that it's pretty unlikely an enlightened person would be fictionally created, as those who did so would have to be enlightened themselves, to do it. It would be like the Buddha conning the world with a fictional Buddha that was actually as enlightened as the Buddha himself.
That there was someone who inspired the Jewish people who were oppressed at the time by the Romans, to the point that even the Romans started to follow his teachings, that's historical fact, just as it's historical fact that the Romans hijacked the religion from the Jews.
The thing is, Buddha inspired those who were suffering from deep poverty, teaching them to find peace regardless. Jesus did exactly the same thing. Neither taught rebellion against authority, just peace within themselves. It was the Romans who subverted his teachings and wrote crap he never said or did.

Say, speaking of white people, which I am, at the moment, have you noticed how many white women are paired with black men on TV, in adverts, in sitcoms, in movies? Yet you never see black women paired with white men. At first I thought this was racist but then I realized it's just because white men are way smarter than white women. I mean, we must be, blacks are naturally violent and what sane white man wants to wake up dead with something sharp and heavy imbedded in his brain?

I'm sure glad I went to England while it was still almost all white people. That was in 1986. Amazing how badly a country can be wrecked in only 30 years. Back then, there weren't any "Asians", aka Arabs and other Middle-Easterners, or hordes of black Africans. Oh but look at it now. Well that's what you get for letting politicians run the country. We have exactly the same problem, the scum-sucking shitheels who run our country are exactly like yours, they invite the crusty dregs of humanity to just swarm in, get on welfare, escalate the crime rate and worsen life for all the rest of us. I would welcome a nuclear attack on Washington DC, our primary seat of government, see them all wiped out, and start over. Even anarchy couldn't be much worse than the mess they're creating.
